Dear Westlake Family Following the announcement from the Vaud Canton suspending gatherings of people over 50 in number and to act more prudently in relation to social contacts the leadership of the church has decided to suspend our worship services and ministries. This is not a decision we have taken lightly or easily but we believe the civil authorities are acting in the best interests of our community and as good citizens we should follow their directive. We have asked our ministries to prepare contingency plans for this eventuality and will now ask them to put those plans into actions. We would ask everyone connected to Westlake to be in prayer about this situation and through social media, email and phone calls to keep in contact with each other, especially those who are vulnerable or isolated. We will keep you update with the situation and our plans for a "virtual service" please monitor our website, Face Book Page and your emails for these updates. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions or if during this time when we will not meet physically if you have any practical needs that we as a church can help you with. As we enter into what increasingly feels like a time of uncertainty when we are all become more aware of our vulnerability to forces beyond our control I believe Jesus has some relevant words for us 5 'Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6 Yours in Christ James On behalf of the Elders and Executive Board of Westlake Church
