Local & Overseas ministries
We have broken this down into those ministries which we support both financially and help run locally, and those that we support overseas.
GEMS (Group for English-speaking MotherS) is a place where mothers of young children can connect with others, belong, be refreshed, encouraged, inspired and loved for who they are, whilst their children are being cared for. The focus of GEMS is on mothers and the group offers them an opportunity to have a break and enjoy an hour of the week for themselves, in the knowledge that their little ones are in safe hands. The mothers’ program offered each term is full of stimulating speakers and opportunities for dynamic discussions as well as plenty of time just to build new friendships. It is open to all, but we do have a waiting list as we need to ensure adequate space in childcare classes.

The Just O’Café is open to all, whether you fancy a coffee whilst you shop, would like some friendly company or would like one of the team to pray for you.

Asylum Seekers meals
Our monthly Asylum Seekers Friendship Meals are open to all who have come to Nyon in need of Asylum. Volunteers from the local churches and the wider community make a friendly welcoming place for them.
All the food is provided by “Falaque”, which is a local restaurant, and we thank them for their kindness.

Stephen Ministry is named after Stephen, who in The Book of Acts took on caring for widows and freed the apostles to teach and preach. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centred care based on grace based acceptance to people who are hurting.
If you think that having a Stephen Minister to walk alongside you, or if God is calling you to be trained up as a Stephen Minister, please contact email@example.com
Each Easter we are part of Service Paques, 3 days of outreach in Nyon with French speaking churches. Teams of volunteers can participate in a range of projects from cleaning the streets, to giving out pancakes and organising a Family Fun Day.
Each August in Gland there is a big day camp where around 200 kids from around the area gather for a week of learning about Jesus, playing games and having fun. It is all in French, but don’t let that put your children off going or you volunteering to help.
We are in partnership with the Flambeau Scouts, an evangelical scouting movement. Westlake has both leaders and kids within their ranks and we support them with their projects.
What we support internationally
Westlake Church made a decision many years ago to give 7% of all its income to its Overseas Missions, which we still do, donating via monthly Sunday collections to 6 missions, all of which Westlake has a personal link to.
